Democratic Republic of Congo - Priority Air Safety Project Phase Ii (PPSA II) - Project Appraisal Report

Following a diagnostic report produced in the early 2000s on the air transport sub-sector situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and under a major transport infrastructure rehabilitation/construction programme, the DRC secured the support of the African Development Bank (AfDB) to finance Phase I of the Priority Air Safety Project (PPSA I), launched in November 2010 and financed with an ADF grant of UA 88.6 million. The implementation of Phase I yielded satisfactory results in terms of an infrastructure upgrade in the three main airports of Ndjili, Lubumbashi and Kisangani; provision of air navigation aids for the DRC airspace; and human capacity building.
