1998-Namibia-Country Portfolio Review Report
The first Country Portfolio Review for Namibia, completed in August 1996, found the performance of the Bank Group portfolio in the country to be satisfactory. During the last two years operations-related field missions have increased, and have helped improve project implementation performance. The economy continues to grow steadily. The new CSP, approved in January 1998, proposes to concentrate operations in the public utilities, transport, and industrial sectors, in recognition of the inaccessibility of the country to concessionary reources and its willing ness to consider Rand-denominated loans to finance only economically viable projects.
