2008-2011 - Gambia - AfDB/WB-Joint Assistance Strategy
The Boards of Directors approved the last Country Strategy Paper for The Gambia covering the period 2002-2004 in July 2003 (Document ADB/BD/WP/2003/57- ADF/BD/WP/2003/53). The 2002-2004 CSP assessed the Gambia’s development challenges and the prospects for sustained growth and poverty reduction. Based on that assessment, the CSP proposed that the Bank’s medium-term strategy (2002-2004) be geared towards the following: (i) improving the fragile macroeconomic environment through policy-based operations; (ii) improving access to quality education and skills development, particularly for girls and pupils in the poorest areas of the country; and (iii) strengthening capacity in the public sector, especially for the Departments and key Institutions involved in the implementation of the poverty reduction program.
