AEC 2012 - Disability and Labour Force Participation in Cameroon
Using data from the Third Cameroonian Household Survey (ECAM3), this paper examines the determinants of the differences in labour force participation between people with and without disabilities. The results obtained indicate that there is a substantial employment gap between disabled and non-disabled people whatever the considered gender and the institutional sector. The decomposition of this gap suggests that it is not explained by differences in human capital, demographic, and other observed characteristics between disabled and non-disabled people; it may result from discrimination.
