Djibouti - Country Strategy Paper (CSP) 2016-2020
The African Development Bank Group's 2016-20 CSP for Djibouti has been prepared against a backdrop of steady improvement in the country's economic growth since 2011, calming of the sociopolitical environment and start of implementation of the Djibouti Vision 2035 and the 2015-19 SCAPE. A small country with barely 800,000 inhabitants, covering an area of 23,200 km2 , Djibouti has since 2011 enjoyed economic prosperity accompanied by relative political stability. The economic growth trend has been positive over the past four years, rising steadily from 4.5% in 2011 to 5.9% in 2014. This momentum is expected to be maintained over the coming years, with a projected growth rate of 6.0% in 2015 and 2016. In addition, GDP per capita has more than doubled in 15 years from USD 762 in 2000 to USD 1,670 in 2013.
