Framework for the Establishment of the Africa Fertilizer Financing Mechanism
In June 2006, the Agricultural Ministers of the African Union Member States met at the Conference for an African Green Revolution in Abuja, Nigeria. One of the major agreements resulting from this multilateral Summit was the establishment of an Africa Fertilizer Development Financing Mechanism (AFFM), the main purpose of which is to enhance agricultural productivity by promoting the use of fertilizers. The Summit charged the African Development Bank with the responsibility of establishing the AFFM by 2007.
