Ghana - Cocoa Rehabilitation Project - PPER
This is a Project Performance Evaluation Report (PPER) of the Ghana Cocoa Rehabilitation Project (CRP). Ghana’s Economic Recovery Program (ERP) of macroeconomic stabilization and structural adjustment was launched in April 1983. As part of the ERP, the Government of Ghana (GOG) introduced a series of policy reforms in the cocoa sub-sector aimed at removing constraints to its development.
The Cocoa Rehabilitation Project (CRP) was the first ADB/ADF financed cocoa project in Ghana. Its specific objectives were to (i) increase cocoa production to give an annual output of at least 300,000 tons per year by year 1995; (ii) increase foreign exchange earnings from cocoa export and (iii) reduce rural poverty and improve quality of life in the cocoa growing areas.
