Mozambique - Massingir Dam Emergency Rehabilitation Project (MDERP) Supplementary LOAN - Appraisal Report

The Massingir Dam Emergency Rehabilitation Project ( MDERP ) was appraised in March 2009 as a response to an emergency when the Massingir Dam’s bottom outlets collapsed resulting in the release of an uncontrollable outflow of Water. The Government of Mozambique (GoM) requested support from the Bank to address the situation and the Bank acted promptly and approved an emergency assistance loan of UA 13.30 million in July 2009, against an estimated total cost for the repair of the bottom outlets of UA 21.4 million, with the understanding that GoM will meet the balance.
