Sierra Leone - Sierra Leone Agro-Industry and Rice Value Chain Support Project (SLARI) – SESA Summary
The Sierra Leone Agro-Industry and Rice Value Chain Support Project (SLARI) aims at stimulating a viable agribusiness sector in Sierra Leone in order to promote economic diversification, food security and sustainable employment generation. These are all key identified priorities of the New Direction Agenda of the Government of Sierra Leone. The development goal is to develop a domestic agribusiness sector focusing of priority agricultural value chains which will serve as sustainable and inclusive business opportunity through enhanced production and productivity to improve the livelihoods of men and women beneficiaries. The project, which will be executed in the identified high potential agroecological zones in the country (especially Njala, Bo and Kenema), will be implemented over a period of five (5) years (2019 – 2024). The project has three (3) components namely: a) support to agricultural production, productivity and agro-industrial development b) support to youth agribusiness skills, entrepreneurship and employment and c) institutional capacity development and Project Management.
