Tanzania - Dodoma and Manyara Regions - Upgrading of Dodoma-Babati Road (260 Km) to Bitumen Standard - Mayamaya-Mela (99.35km) and Mela-Bonga (88.8km) - RAP Summary
The Government of Tanzania received a credit from the Nordic Development Fund (NDF) towards the improvement of the Central Transport Corridor Project. A part of these funds was applied to conducting the Feasibility Study and Detailed Engineering Design for the upgrading from gravel to bitumen standard of the Dodoma – Babati Road. The length of the road is 260 Kms On 30th September 2005, the Contract for Consultancy Services for the Feasibility Study and Detailed Engineering Design for Upgrading of Dodoma – Babati Road was signed between TANROADS and Carl Bro a/s. The study was carried out in two phases: Phase I comprised the economic feasibility, preliminary environmental and social impact assessments, and preliminary design, while Phase II covered the detailed environmental and social impact assessments, detailed resettlement action plan, detailed engineering design, and preparation of pre-qualification and bidding documents for the project road.
