Kenya - Nairobi-Thika Highway Improvement Project - Project Completion Report
The Government of Kenya prepared the “ECONOMIC RECOVERY STRATEGY FOR WEALTH AND EMPLOYMENT CREATION 2003 – 2007” (ERS) in June 2003 as the blueprint that was to guide the Government's economic policies over the next five years. Poor infrastructure was identified as a primary factor that made production cost excessively high, thereby undermining the competitiveness of locally produced goods. In particular, roads, railways and telecommunications were identified to have serious negative impact on production. One of the key strategies was therefore to rehabilitate and expand physical infrastructure.
