The Angololo Multipurpose Water Resources Development Project is a regional transboundary water initiative being developed between Kenya and Uganda on the trans-boundary Malaba River shared by the two countries. The objective of the project is to jointly develop the resources within the basin for multipurpose use, including irrigation, hydropower generation, and water supply, thereby contributing to the economic growth, reduction of poverty, improved food security, health and living conditions for the people within the Basin within the context of the overall socio-economic development of the two countries. The Angololo project is one of the priority projects under the Nile Equatorial Lakes Subsidiary Action Program (NELSAP), an investment programme of the Nile Basin Initiative (NBI)
