27-Jun-2016 - The African Development Bank is formally launched on a new path to deliver development impact for the people of Africa. On Friday, April 22, 2016, it reached a major milestone, with the approval by the Bank’s Board of Directors of the institution’s new Development and Business Delivery Model (DBDM).  On Wednesday June 22, 2016, the Board went a step further by approving the updated Decentralization Action Plan in line with the DBDM.

23-Jun-2016 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) has approved a €15.7-million senior loan through its private sector window to “Compagnie Agricole de Saint-Louis du Sénégal” (CASL) for a rice production project in Senegal River Valley. This project will contribute to three major priorities of the AfDB High 5s agenda: “Feed Africa”, “Industrialize Africa” and “Improve the quality of life for the people of Africa”.

ACCF grants US $0.8 million to enhance climate finance readiness in Côte d’Ivoire and to make two transboundary projects climate-resilient

22-Jun-2016 - The Africa Climate Change Fund (ACCF) announced on May 3 the approval of two technical assistance projects totaling US $0,8 million that will strengthen the capacity of Côte d’Ivoire to access climate finance and integrate climate resilience into two transboundary projects in Togo and Benin and in Zambia and Zimbabwe.

AfDB approves USD 245 million to finance Uganda-Rwanda transport project and boosts regional trade in East Africa

22-Jun-2016 - On Wednesday, June 22, 2016, the African Development Bank approved USD 245 million in loans and grants to the Governments of Uganda and Rwanda to finance a transport project that will boost regional trade and decongest traffic from Kampala (Busega) city to Mpigi. Uganda and Rwanda are landlocked countries and transport infrastructure is a key factor to stimulate socio-economic activities and improve competitiveness.

ECOWAS urged to strengthen regional integration by reducing non-tariff barriers to trade

14-Jun-2016 - Trade experts have called on member countries of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to step up efforts to minimise burdens that non-tariff measures (NTMs) place on businesses in the region. At a June 14-15, 2016 meeting in Côte d’Ivoire’s economic capital, Abidjan, the experts highlighted that countries needed to diversify and increase their portfolio of exports, set up trade obstacle alert mechanisms, and standardise technical and regulatory requirements.
