02/03/2005 - The President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, Mr. Donald Kaberuka, has announced the appointments of four new Vice Presidents and the Secretary General of the institution. The appointments came at the end of a competitive, global search process that involved some 500 candidates from around the world.


02/03/2005 - Tunis, 2 March 2005 – The Government of Guinea Bissau receives financial assistance from the African Development Fund (ADF) to support its efforts to build capacity in economic and financial management. The ADF Board of Directors today approved a grant of 1.35 million Units of Account (UA*), approximately US$ 2 million, for the EconomicManagementCapacityBuilding Project.

02/03/2005 - Tunis, 2 March 2005- The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) approved today, through its Private Sector Window, a Line of Credit (LOC) of US $70 Million to the Zenith Bank of Nigeria, the largest ADB private investment so far in the Financial Intermediation sector in Nigeria. The project will be provided in the form of grant, to support Zenith Bank in the areas of project finance, corporate finance, implementation of Basel 2 framework and environmental risk assessment. Zenith Bank is a privately owned Nigerian bank, listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. It extends universal banking services to its corporate, commercial and retail clients through a network of 81 branches.


02/03/2005 - Tunis, 2 March 2004 – The African Development Bank (AfDB) approved a loan of EUR 136.45 millions in favour of Morocco, to finance the construction of an integrated solar thermal combined cycle power station in Ain Beni Mathar. This project is a new initiative both for the kingdom of Morocco as well as for the ADB.

02/03/2005 - Tunis, 2 March 2005 – The Boards of the Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group today noted that Madagascar had effectively met the conditions and reached the completion point under the enhanced framework of the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) Initiative.


02/03/2005 - Tunis, 2 March 2005 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF) has approved a grant of 1.485 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 2.25 million, to finance an inventory of hydraulic structures and a study for the preparation of a National Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation (DWSS) for 2015 in Burkina Faso.


02/03/2005 - Tunis, 2 March 2005 – The African Development Fund (ADF), the concessional window of the African Development Bank (ADB) Group will support the Education system in Eritrea in enhancing access to basic education for the local populations.
