Abidjan Scheduled to Host Next AfDB Annual Meetings

Dakar, May 13, 2009 – The board of governors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group met on Wednesday, May 13, 2009, in Dakar within the framework of the 2009 Annual Meetings and decided that the 2010 AfDB Annual Meetings would be held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. According to the Ivorian Minister of State, Paul-Antoine Bohoun-Bouabré, who spoke to the media in Dakar, Senegal in a press conference, the 2010 Annual Meetings will take place from May 27-28, 2010, in Abidjan. Mr. Bohoun-Bouabré, who is also the AfDB Governor for Côte d’Ivoire, added that another resolution had been taken by the same board of governors to extend AfDB’s temporary relocation status in Tunisia for one year. “Currently, all the conditions are not in place for the Bank’s return to Abidjan. I however hope that these conditions will be in place by the next Annual Meetings,” he said.
