13/02/2018 - The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has signed a loan agreement with the African Development Fund (ADF) designed to provide an Official Development Assistance (ODA) loan to the tune of 73.601 billion Japanese Yen (approx. US $700.9 million). The loan is part of Japan’s contribution to the African Development Fund’s Fourteenth Replenishment (ADF-14). This is the first JICA loan provided to the ADF.
15/02/2017 - The eight-nation Intergovernmental Agency on Development (IGAD) has secured a US $3.50-million grant from the African Development Fund (ADF), the concessional window of the African Development Bank Group, to finance the agency’s Infrastructure Master Plan (IRIMP).
12/12/2016 - A global coalition of donors pledged to support the structural transformation of African economies and the African Development Bank's High Five priorities by agreeing on US $7.06 billion over the next three years to support development projects and programs in the 38 lower income African countries supported by the African Development Fund (ADF).
28/11/2016 - On November 28 and 29, 2016, the third and final replenishment meeting for the 14th replenishment of the African Development Fund (ADF-14) is taking place in Luxembourg, following two previous meetings held in Abidjan in March and June 2016. This is the opportunity for donors to the Fund to mobilize the resources that will support development projects financed by the ADF from 2017 to 2019, as part of the African Development Bank Group’s Ten Year Strategy. Several of the Fund’s recipient countries will also be present along with observers from peer institutions.
23/11/2016 - Heriniaina, or “Life Force” in Malagasy, confidently stands on her land in Tanandava. She has made the most of her plot, saving enough money to acquire an additional hectare of land and a tractor worth 3,000 euros. The tractor has enabled her to double her harvest. Heriniaina, a member of a local women’s association, is miles ahead of many other local farmers, who still use zebus to cultivate their land. She also rents her tractor to increase her earnings. “My life has changed,” she says.

25/10/2016 - Phase II of the Abidjan Sanitation Program has received a significant boost following the mobilization by donors of over US $350 million out of the required US $400 million needed to fund the program successfully. This program, which was presented to donors at a roundtable discussion in Abidjan on October 20-21, 2016, is designed to eradicate the recurring floods in the city of Abidjan and to resolve most of the sanitation-related challenges.

An African Development Bank (AfDB) Group delegation led by President, Akinwumi Adesina, will attend the 5th KOAFEC Ministerial Conference in Seoul, South Korea from 24-27 October 2016.
The Bank is co-hosting the conference whose theme is: “Transforming Africa’s Agriculture through Industrialization and Inclusive Finance”, with the Korea Ministry of Strategy and Finance (MOSF), and the Export-Import Bank of Korea (EXIM). The theme emphasises the business value of agriculture to Africa’s socio-economic transformation.
26/08/2016 - The African Development Bank Group and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the Sixth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD VI), currently underway in Nairobi, Kenya.

An African Development Bank (AfDB) Group delegation led by the Bank President, Akinwumi Adesina, will attend the Sixth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD VI) in Nairobi from August 27-28, 2016. This will be the first time TICAD is being held in Africa since its inception in 1993, demonstrating the strong African ownership and deepening partnership among TICAD stakeholders.
