AfDB Private Sector Window Starts Operations in Madagascar

A week long promotion mission of the ADB Private Sector Window (OPSD) to Madagascar wound up Friday in Antananarivo, with a press conference which focused on private sector development in the country, as well as prospective areas for future Private Sector Window involvement.

The conference also permitted Mr. Naji Safir, the ResRep for Madagascar, to announce the imminent opening of the Country Office and address specific questions on public sector activities.

OPSD's delegation met pm Wednesday with the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance.

In these meetings, Mr. Luciano Borin, OPSD Director, announced the launching of the first series of the Bank’s private sector operations in the country, which will focus on diversifying financial services to better support SMEs, enhancing Public-Private Partnerships approaches, stimulating expansion of renewable energy and supporting large private investments in infrastructure and mining.
