07-Mar-2018 - In a historic first, East African Governors of the African Development Bank met with the President Akinwumi Adesina and Executives to discuss economic challenges, opportunities and successes in the continent’s fast-growing powerhouse region.
On the agenda: closing the $170 billion infrastructure gap across the continent, keeping pace with the region’s booming youth population, creating jobs and safeguarding peace and security.
07-Mar-2018 - “This is no longer business as usual,” African Development Bank President Akinwumi Adesina, said at the start of meetings with Finance Ministers from North African countries, held at the Bank’s headquarters.
He was referring to his promise during last year’s Annual Meetings to cultivate closer interactions with the ministers who serve as Governors of their countries in the Bank.
07-Mar-2018 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank approved the institution’s Records Management and Archives Policy on Wednesday, February 28, 2018. The policy is based on reviews of frameworks and best practices on records management from the other development banks.
The policy builds on the Bank’s Disclosure and Access to Information Policy (2013) and its Digital Strategy 2017-2020, including the provisions and safeguards of digital security of records from creation until disposal.
07-Mar-2018 - The African Development Bank and its East and North African Governors have stressed the need for urgent measures to match the continent’s growing population and youth unemployment, which they likened to a “ticking time bomb.”
The meeting described the continent’s growing young population as a potential growth engine for the world.
“The good news is that the solution is within our reach and will require investments,” said Akinwumi Adesina, President of the African Development Bank.
