04-May-2018 - The African Development Bank hosted a workshop of energy experts, women entrepreneurs and government officials to discuss a Bank-funded feasibility study on Business Opportunities for Women in a Changing Energy Value Chain in West Africa.
The workshop was organized by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), in partnership with the Bank Group and the New Partnership for Africa’s Development Infrastructure Project Preparatory Facility (NEPAD–IPPF).

02-May-2018 - “Quality Assurance helps us move from a transactional approach to development delivery, forcing us to think about what we plan to achieve and how.” This were the observations of the Director of Operations Committee and Quality Assurance Department of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Simon Mizrahi, at the opening session of the second edition of the Multilateral Development Banks’ meeting on quality assurance hosted by the Bank Group on 26-27 April 2018 in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
02-May-2018 - Lundi 30 avril 2018, la Banque africaine de développement a entériné l’octroi d’un prêt de 8 millions d’euros en faveur d’un établissement tunisien de crédit spécialisé dans le leasing, Hannibal Lease. Outre cette ligne de crédit, la Banque lui offre également une subvention d’assistance technique, afin d’améliorer, notamment, son dispositif d’analyse et de maitrise des risques et de l’aider à mettre en place un système de gestion des effets environnementaux et sociaux de ses opérations.

30-Apr-2018 - Rehema Tukai grew up in Kondoa and works in Dodoma, Tanzania’s capital city. Until now, visiting her family in Kondoa involved a five-hour journey along a bumpy and dusty road. Thanks to a new road co-funded by the African Development Bank, it takes her a little over one hour to travel the same distance.
Tukai was one of several locals to celebrate when the President of Tanzania, John Pombe Magufuli, and the President of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina, commissioned the Dodoma-Babati road project on Friday.

26-Apr-2018 - At a national event at Jamhuri Stadium in Tanzania’s capital, Dodoma, marking the 54th anniversary of the United Republic of Tanzania – the union of the Republic of Tanganyika and the People’s Republic of Zanzibar – Tanzania’s President John Pombe Magufuli praised the African Development Bank for financing projects that have had a transformative impact in his country.

However, some disruptive technologies could displace human labour, widen income inequality and contribute to greater informality in the workforce. Tapping new technologies in a way that maximizes benefits, mitigates adverse effects and shares benefits among all citizens will require public-private cooperation and smart public policy.
24-Apr-2018 - The President of the Republic of Cameroon, Paul Biya, ratified the agreement to establish the African Legal Support Facility (ALSF) on April 13, 2018 in the presence of his cabinet. Cameroon is the 25th Member State to ratify the treaty.

24-Apr-2018 - President Akinwumi Adesina is attending the 2018 anniversary of the union between the Republic of Tanganyika and the People’s Republic of Zanzibar that gave birth to the United Republic of Tanzania.
Adesina, who was invited as a special guest, will deliver remarks at the event, scheduled for April 26 at the Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma.
As part of his State visit to Tanzania, the President will on April 27 perform the official opening of the Dodoma-Babati road project, which was co-financed by the Bank and the Japan International Cooperation...

24-Apr-2018 - The African Development Bank will hold a Workshop on Strengthening the Role of Parliament in Combating Illicit Financial Flows from Africa (IFFs) from 24 to 26 April 2018 in Abuja.
Since the approval of the Bank Group’s Policy on the Prevention of Illicit Financial Flows and its accompanying Strategic Framework and Action Plan in April 2017, the Bank has organized and/or participated in a number of Conferences and Workshops aimed at building the capacity of regional stakeholders to combat illicit financial flows.
20-Apr-2018 - Seven Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) launched a new platform to enhance their collaboration on economic migration and forced displacement today on the margins of the IMF-World Bank Group Spring Meetings. The platform will advance strategic dialogue and operational coordination to maximize the impact of MDBs’ growing engagement in these two areas.
19-Apr-2018 - The European Investment Bank and the African Development Bank have agreed to support the creation of the new Development Bank of Nigeria to strengthen lending for business and agriculture investment in the country. The European Investment Bank has finalized a US $20-million equity stake in the new financing institution, alongside US $50-million equity participation from the African Development Bank.
19-Apr-2018 - A Memorandum of Understanding to enhance collaboration on sustainable economic development was signed on April 18 by the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and the African Development Bank and formalized during the World Bank-International Monetary Fund Spring Meetings in Washington, DC.
