29-Nov-2017 - Efforts being made by Kenya’s government to make Nairobi an aviation hub has received a big boost from the African development Bank (AfDB) which approved a US$ 160m loan for the expansion of  Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).  The project entails construction of a 4.9-km second runway to International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Category II standards, including connecting taxiways, additional parking stands for aircraft, and an air rescue firefighting unit.

AfDB helps Cameroon unlock its energy potential with €150m loan

29-Nov-2017 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) has approved a loan of € 150m to help finance the 420 MW Nachtigal hydroelectric project, with the financial support of other partners. Nachtigal, will come online in 2022, thereby increasing the county’s existing electricity installed capacity by 30%. This will also help to lower the cost of electricity in the long-term.

AfDB Signs US $ 300m Private Sector loan agreement for Nacala Corridor project

28-Nov-2017 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) and other participating co-lenders has signed agreements for the financing of the Nacala Corridor project. This is an integrated and transformative infrastructure project which consists of a 912-km railway and a port meant to unlock the Western region of Mozambique and landlocked Malawi.
