14-Jun-2016 - Trade experts have called on member countries of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to step up efforts to minimise burdens that non-tariff measures (NTMs) place on businesses in the region.
At a June 14-15, 2016 meeting in Côte d’Ivoire’s economic capital, Abidjan, the experts highlighted that countries needed to diversify and increase their portfolio of exports, set up trade obstacle alert mechanisms, and standardise technical and regulatory requirements.

10-Jun-2016 - The African Development Bank has welcomed the Infrastructure Africa 2016 forum taking place June 9-10, 2016, in Johannesburg.
This year the Bank is sponsoring the event in partnership with UK Aid. The forum has proved important over the years in addressing the continent’s infrastructure investment opportunities.
The AfDB advocates for inclusive infrastructure, and encourages infrastructure investments that also pay attention to diverse groups, particularly women and the girl child, who utilise infrastructure in many parts of the continent.
10-Jun-2016 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF), the concessional arm of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 approved four operations amounting to close to US $45 million in lines of credit to African financial institutions under its Private Sector Credit Enhancement Facility (PSF). The four operations are credit risk participations in lines of credit of the African Development Bank to financial institutions in East, North, West and Southern Africa.

It is part of the second phase of the regional Lake Victoria Water Supply and Sanitation Program (LVWATSAN II). This follows an ADF grant of UA 72.98 million (about USD 102 million) approved by the African Development Bank (AfDB) in 2010 to implement the LVWATSAN II program in the five East African Community partner states - Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda.
