African Development Bank supports tax modernization project in Lesotho

13-Feb-2018 - The African Development Bank Group and the Kingdom of Lesotho have signed a loan agreement for US $7 million to support the country’s Tax Modernization Project. The project aims to strengthen the effectiveness of tax administration to create fiscal space by expanding the tax base, modernizing collection and compliance procedures. This project is part of the Bank’s continued support to the Government’s policy priorities as guided by the current National Strategic Development Plan (NSDP).

Japan provides US $700 million to African Development Fund

13-Feb-2018 - The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has signed a loan agreement with the African Development Fund (ADF) designed to provide an Official Development Assistance (ODA) loan to the tune of 73.601 billion Japanese Yen (approx. US $700.9 million). The loan is part of Japan’s contribution to the African Development Fund’s Fourteenth Replenishment (ADF-14). This is the first JICA loan provided to the ADF.

African Development Bank approves ZAR 140-million loan to support African Local Currency Bond Fund

05-Feb-2018 - The Board of the African Development Bank has approved a ZAR 140-million loan (about US $10 million) to the African Local Currency Bond Fund (ALCB Fund), to further enhance the Fund’s portfolio and promote the development of domestic capital markets across the continent. The senior loan with a seven-year tenor including a two-year grace period, will support opportunities for local African corporate issuers to access and diversify their long-term funding sources in local currency and crowd in local institutional investors.
