02-Nov-2018 - The African Development Bank and Mozambique’s Lúrio University recently launched the UniLúrio Support to Skills Development for Agriculture and Industry Programme in Pemba, and, awarded 68 scholarships of which 39 (57%) were allocated to women. The Bank is investing UA 11.10 million (US$ 15.5 million), grant in the five-year project.

02-Nov-2018 - The African Development Bank’s Affirmative Finance Action for Women in Africa (AFAWA) program has signed a financial procedures agreement with the World Bank-led Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-Fi).
“This agreement is an important milestone for the AFAWA program, and presents an opportunity to leverage substantial resources to unlock the transformational potential of women’s entrepreneurship in Africa,” said Vanessa Moungar, Director of the Bank’s Gender, Women and Civil Society Department.

01-Nov-2018 - On an official visit to Germany, the President of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina commended the Presidents and Heads of State of the Compact with Africa countries for their strong commitment to reforms, adding the African Development Bank has worked very closely with the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund on the policy matrices and advancing them with positive results in the compact countries.

The 13th conference of the EAC, will take place in Kigali, Rwanda from December 3–5, 2018, under the theme “Regional and Continental Integration for Africa’s Development.” The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will host the meeting. The EAC is the leading forum for discussing African issues of the day.
30-Oct-2018 - Tanzania’s alternative learning and skills development centers were constructed with African Development Fund (ADF) loan and grant totaling US$32.7 million. Designed to fill the gaps in non-formal education in Zanzibar, specifically on the islands of Unguja and Pemba, the project also financed equipment purchase and development of teachers’ manuals.

26-Oct-2018 - The African Development Bank Group, in partnership with the French Development Agency, Association of Power Utilities of Africa and African Network of Centers of Excellence (ANCEE) organized a three-day seminar on “Promoting Gender Equality in the African Power Sector” at the Bank’s headquarters in Abidjan.
The seminar brought together 50 human resource directors from 50 power utility companies, eight Directors from ANCEE and other participants from more than 25 African countries to the Bank for the talks.
