28-Dec-2021 - Le président de la République du Sénégal, Macky Sall, a présidé, lundi 27 décembre, la cérémonie d’inauguration du Train Express Régional (TER). La cérémonie a eu pour cadre, la ville de Diamniadio qui polarise un nouveau pôle urbain. Cette inauguration marque l’aboutissement d’un des plus grands projets de la première phase du Plan Sénégal émergent dont la Banque africaine de développement est un partenaire majeur. La contribution de la Banque dans ce projet est estimée à 120 milliards de francs CFA.
24-Dec-2021 - Le Conseil d’administration du Groupe de la Banque africaine de développement a approuvé, le 17 décembre à Abidjan, le nouveau Document de stratégie pays du Togo pour la période 2021-2026. Ce document servira de cadre de référence pour les interventions de la Banque pour les cinq prochaines années dans le pays et appuiera la Feuille de route gouvernementale 2021-2025.

The pandemic had a negative impact on African countries, and the Bank was instrumental in building greater economic and health sector resilience across the continent. It committed to support the development of domestic vaccine manufacturing on a regional hub model and is following up on that commitment.
23-Dec-2021 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank Group has approved an equity investment pool of €10.5 million toward the first close of the Janngo Start-Up Fund, a pan-African tech start-up fund.
The pooled funds comprise €7 million provided by the African Development Bank and a €3.5 million contribution by the European Union and the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States.
23-Dec-2021 - The African Development Bank Group, on 23 December 2021, announces the conclusion of a negotiated settlement agreement with Weihai Construction Group, thus putting an end to sanctions proceedings for fraudulent practices raised against that company. Pursuant to the negotiated settlement agreement, Weihai Construction Group, registered in China, will be debarred for a period of 35 months, effective 19 November 2021.

However, according to Olufunso Somorin, the African Development Bank’s East Africa Regional Principal Officer for Climate Change and Green Growth, the low figure has some upside. He says that the gap presents an opportunity for African countries to build climate-resilient roads as the impacts of climate change become more and more pronounced.
22-Dec-2021 - The African Development Bank has received a huge response to its call for applications to take part in a training program that seeks to bring digital skills to Africa’s underserved communities.
More than 19,000 aspiring digital ambassadors have applied since the program launched on 17 November. All eligible African youth are encouraged to apply for the peer-to-peer learning program before 31 December at 17.00 GMT.
22-Dec-2021 - The Danish government has provided a $30.1 million grant to the African Development Bank-managed African Water Facility to enhance access to quality water and sanitation for Africans living in four arid and drought prone countries.
The grant will benefit rural dwellers in Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger and Somalia under the Facility’s Improving access to climate-resilient safe water supply and sanitation services in the Sahel and Horn of Africa program. The grant is expected to cover the period through 2025.

21-Dec-2021 - The African Development Bank Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Osward Mulenga Chanda as Director, Water Development and Sanitation, with effect from 1 December.
Mr. Osward Mulenga Chanda, a Zambian national, joined the African Development Bank in 2009 as Chief Water and Sanitation Engineer. He was then appointed as Division Manager, Water Security and Sanitation, in the Water Development and Sanitation Department, where he managed a portfolio of over $4.5 billion across the continent.

The grant will be sourced from the multi-donor Capital Markets Development Trust Fund, which is administered by the African Development Bank and supported by the Ministry of Finance of Luxembourg and the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Cooperation of the Netherlands.
20-Dec-2021 - The African Development Bank Group has approved a grant of $420,000 to support the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations du Niger to develop strategies to mobilize institutional savings and promote affordable housing through mortgage refinancing.
The grant will be sourced from the Capital Markets Development Trust Fund, a multi-donor fund administered by the African Development Bank.

17-Dec-2021 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank Group has approved a $1.5 million grant to assess policy gaps in the digital trade and e-commerce ecosystems in 10 countries in Africa.
The funds, sourced from the African Development Fund, the Bank’s concessional window, will go to the Smart Africa Alliance, an alliance of 32 African countries, international organisations and global corporations with a vision to create a single digital market in Africa by 2030.
