A conference on the 2008 African Economic Outlook was held on Friday, November 21, 2008, in Bamako, Mali. Coordinated by EDRE Research Economist, Ahmed Moummi, the event was attended by many senior government officials, including the secretary-general at the country’s finance ministry. Resident Representatives of the UNDP and FAO in Mali as well as representatives of other international organizations accredited to Mali also took part in the event. The event also brought together research experts from across the country given its importance to the continent’s socio-economic development. The event was given wide media coverage. The presentation was followed by an exchange of perspectives on economic issues on the continent, especially within the context of financial and food crises and their impact on the continent.
