From June 4-9, 2018, the African Development Bank is celebrating World Environment Day on June 5 on the theme “Beat Plastic Pollution” and the World Oceans Day on June 8 with a focus on “Preventing plastic pollution and encouraging solutions for a healthy ocean” with a range of activities programmed in Abidjan.
31/05/2018 - At its 2018 Annual Meetings in Busan, Korea, the African Development Bank signed a 5-year, US $3-million Line of Credit (LoC) with Sierra Leone’s Union Trust Bank (UTB), the only indigenous private bank in Sierra Leone and an important provider of finance for indigenous micro, small and medium-sized enterprises. The LoC will primarily target local SMEs and women-owned businesses working in agriculture, energy, manufacturing and services, among others.
24/05/2018 - Ministers of Finance, Agriculture and Governors of Central Banks from African countries have called for further innovative financing mechanisms to deal with the impact of climate change, which has led to economic losses from cycles, conflict, insecurity and cross-border political instability in the Sahel region.
African Development Bank President Akinwumi Adesina attended the discussions by the Bank’s Board of Governors, emphasizing the Bank’s involvement in strengthening the technical cooperation between the Bank and the African Risk Capacity (ARC) to respond to climate change in Africa.

17/05/2018 - The African Development Bank has approved US$100 million senior loan to Nigerian firm, Indorama Eleme Fertilizer & Chemicals Limited, to support the company’s plans to double its fertilizer production from 1.4 million tons of urea to 2.8 million tons per annum.
17/05/2018 - C’est une bonne nouvelle pour le commerce au Mali, mais surtout pour les petites et moyennes entreprises : le Conseil d'administration de la Banque africaine de développement a approuvé, le 16 Mai 2018 à Abidjan, en Côte d’Ivoire, une ligne de crédit de 8 millions d’euros en faveur de la Banque sahélo-saharienne pour l’investissement et le commerce au Mali (BSIC-Mali). Celle-ci devrait profiter de cette ligne de crédit pour renforcer ses efforts de financement au profit des petites et moyennes entreprises, un des secteurs clés de l’économie malienne. A terme, cet appui de la Banque devrait permettre la création de plusieurs dizaines d’emplois.
16/05/2018 - The African Development Bank has approved US$ 20 million facility to boost lending to small and medium-sized enterprises in Liberia.
The loan, approved by the Board of Directors of the Bank on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, is a trade finance package for three Liberian commercial banks: Liberian Bank for Development and Investment (LBDI); International Bank of (Liberia) Limited (IBL) and Afriland First Bank Liberia Limited.
