The African Development Bank is co-organizing, together with other members of the Nairobi Framework Partnership (NFP), the 9th African Carbon Forum (ACF) hosted by the Republic of Benin, in Cotonou from 28th – 30th June, 2017.
15/06/2017 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group and Export Trading Group (ETG) marked a significant milestone on May 30 with the signing of a US$ 100 million loan to finance part of the company’s Agricultural Investment Program (IP) in Africa which will promote employment for youths and women, and adopt an integrated value-chain approach that emphasizes access to regional and global markets.
08/06/2017 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) has approved a €5 million equity participation in Investisseur & Partenaire pour le Développement 2 (IPDEV.2), to support Small Growing Businesses (SGBs) in Sub-Saharan Africa.
31/05/2017 - On May 24, 2017 at the 52nd Global Environment Facility (GEF) Council meeting, the GEF approved a total funding of US $11.2 million for two projects co-financed with the African Development Bank (AfDB). The projects, one in Mali (Scaling up a Multiple Benefits Approach to Enhance Resilience in Agro- and Forest Landscapes of Mali’s Sahel Regions) and the other in Benin (Sustainable Forest Management and Conservation Project in Central and South Benin) focused on the “poorest and most vulnerable”, particularly Least Developed Countries (LDCs), according to the GEF CEO Naoko Ishii. Mali and Benin are both LDCs and the projects will improve land and forest management to promote sustainable, resilient and healthy agro- and forest ecosystems. The projects comprise new funding for US $8.6 million (Mali) and US $2.6 million (Benin) with a total AfDB co-financing of $78.8 million.
18/04/2017 - Bank Group (AfDB) Director-General for the West African Region, Janvier Litse visited the Republic of Benin from 10 to 12 April 2017 as part of a dialogue mission with the country's authorities. The visit falls within the Bank’s commitment to strengthen cooperation with member States. It provided an opportunity to discuss issues related to the imminent opening of the Bank’s National Office in the country. Discussions between a Bank-led multidisciplinary team and the Government officials enabled the two parties to agree on key issues including the facilities, immunities, privileges and exemptions of the National Office and its staff.
12/04/2017 - Le Conseil d’administration du Groupe de la Banque africaine de développement (BAD), a accordé un appui budgétaire (PASEBE) d’un montant de 19,92 millions d’unités de compte (environ 16 milliards de francs CFA) au Bénin, pour booster le secteur de l’énergie du pays.
23/02/2017 - Benin, Guinea and Niger will benefit significantly from the development support provided by the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) following the Board’s approval to open offices in the three countries in order to strengthen its operational presence, visibility and address their needs effectively.
11/01/2017 - The President of the Republic of Benin, Patrice Talon, visited on Wednesday 11 January 2017 the headquarters of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, where he was welcomed by President Akinwumi Adesina, for the presentation of the new program of action of the Government of Benin for the period 2016-2021.
07/12/2016 - Une étape de plus vers la mise en œuvre du programme « Energie et Eau pour la Vie » vient d’être franchie au Bénin. Grâce à l’assistance technique fournie par la Banque africaine de développement (BAD) depuis août 2016, le programme dispose désormais de données concrètes en termes de budget et de cadrage institutionnel, ce qui devrait lui permettre de mobiliser les fonds nécessaires à son déploiement sur le terrain.
