11/09/2017 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) has announced a new youth training drive in partnership with the Brazil-Africa Institute to train young farmers (aged 18-35 years) in commodity processing, financial literacy and management techniques.

The initiative aims at providing the much-needed stimulus to drive the expansion of agriculture-based economic development with an initial focus on developing cassava farm products in West Africa. The Bank is currently offering training opportunities for 30 youth to train in Brazil for three months, said AfDB’s Director of Agriculture and Agro-Industry, Chiji Ojukwu, who spoke Tuesday, September 5 at the 7th African Green Revolution Forum (AGRF) in Abidjan.

09/11/2016 - The African Development Bank applauded the successes of Brazil’s agricultural transformation during the recent 4th Brazil Africa Forum in Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná, Brazil.

The event, which took place on November 3 and 4, 2016 and focused on Strategies for the Development of Agriculture in Brazil and Africa, was organized by the Brazil Africa Institute and hosted by Itaipu Binacional, one of the largest hydropower plants in the world.

22/06/2015 - On Wednesday, May 27, 2015, Day 3 of the African Development Bank’s 50th Annual Meetings, a panel session was dedicated to a discussion on the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) countries. Among other issues addressed by participants, was the New Development Bank (NDB), the African Regional Centre (ARC) and the Contingent Reserve Arrangement.

18/11/2013 - A critical issue for African countries “Human Resources for Health: foundation for Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and the post-2015 development agenda” was discussed among 2,000 participants from 80 countries at the Third Global Forum on Human Resources for Health (HRH) which took place November 10-13 in Recife, Brazil. The conference was followed by a Board meeting of the Global Health Workforce Alliance (GHWA) on November 14 to set up the future health workforce agenda, in which the African Development Bank is a member.

01/04/2013 - At their meeting in Durban, the BRICS group put forward the proposal establishing a Development Bank under their auspices. This initiative was hailed by Donald Kaberuka, President of the AfDB. A grand premiere in Africa, this decision was taken at the meeting held on the 26 and 27 March 2013. The continent welcomed the annual meeting of the BRICS group held in Durban made up of Brazil, India, China, Russia and South Africa joining these countries in April 2011.

Dilma Rousseff, Vladimir Putin, Manmohan Singh, Xi Jinping and Jacob Zuma represent a changing world, as gravity and power gradually shift from North to South, and West to East. Between them, they preside over nearly half of the world’s population, and nearly a quarter of its GDP.

20/09/2012 - A high-level delegation from the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) visited the African Development Bank Group on September 18 in Tunis to share industry knowledge that may help revolutionize aviation in Africa. The workshop entitled “Developing Africa’s Air Transportation” was co-chaired by Tas Anvaripour, Manager for Infrastructure Finance in the Private Sector Department of the African Development Bank.
