27/11/2015 - For two full days the African Natural Resources Center (ANRC) of the African Development Bank (AfDB) brought together 45 civil society organisations (CSOs) from 30 countries in Africa to discuss ways to foster inclusive and sustainable development through public participation in natural resources policy formulation.
05/10/2015 - Civil society has a key role to play in fighting corruption – from monitoring public services, denouncing bribery and raising awareness, to contributing to the implementation of international anti-corruption instruments such as the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC). The African Development Bank’s Integrity and Anti-Corruption Department (IACD) acknowledges the important role of civil society in the fight against corruption.
08/06/2015 - On May 28, 2015, the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Climate Investment Funds (CIF) co-hosted an open dialogue session in the AfDB’s Civil Society Organization (CSO) Forum in the margins of its Annual Meetings in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. In the session, participants used as a jumping-off point the CIF’s unique multi-stakeholder approach, with the AfDB serving as a key implementing agency and partner.
29/05/2015 - A forum was held on Thursday, May 28, Day 4 of the African Development Bank's (AfDB) Annual Meetings, involving representatives from the Bank and from civil society organizations (CSOs). Several topics were on the agenda, particularly citizen oversight, accountability and the climate. One of the main goals of this forum was to uphold cooperation between the AfDB and CSOs in order to encourage the latter to be transparent in promoting sustainable development in Africa.
Under the leadership of the Madagascar Presidency Office, the country Community of Practice on Managing for development results (CoP-MfDR) will organize a learning and planning workshop from March 10-12, 2015 at Hotel Colbert in Antananarivo, titled “Results culture, a guarantee for development”.
02/11/2014 - The newly launched Millennium Development Goals 2014 Report (MDG 2014) has assessed that although poverty rates in Africa are declining at an accelerated rate since 2005, the pace is still too slow to meet the poverty reduction target.
30/10/2014 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) participated to the Twelfth Meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP12) of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) that took place from October 6-17, 2014 in Pyeongchang, Republic of Korea.
23/09/2014 - The Board of Governors of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) through its private sector window approved on September 18, 2014 in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire a EUR 1 million line of credit (LOC) equivalent in Franc CFA to Finadev S.A. Benin.
01/08/2014 - A new African Development Bank (AfDB) report entitled “Food Subsidies and Direct Social Transfer: Toward a Better Targeting of Monetary Poverty and Deprivation in Tunisia” has just been launched in Tunis. The new report, produced by the bank’s North Africa Department (ORNA), covers a broad range of indicators from economic indicators, econometric equations to the ground reality of poverty in Tunisia and the subsidies and other social transfer systems put in place in the country.
The African Development Bank and its partners will organise the second Ministerial Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) in Africa. The forum will convene at the Hassan II Academy of Science and Technology in Rabat, Morocco from 14-17 October 2014.
