02-Feb-2017 - African Development Bank Group Director General, East African Region, Gabriel Negatu handed over the keys to the new Bank-funded Customs Building to the Government of South Sudan on January 26, 2017. The Minister of Finance Stephen Dhieu Dau received the keys to the building on behalf of the Government. The new office building was built by the Chinese New Era Company through a grant from African Development Bank under the Public Financial Management and Aid Coordination (PFAID) project.

01-Feb-2017 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF), the concessional arm of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), has approved two transport sector investment risk participations amounting to US $69.6 million under its Private Sector Credit Enhancement Facility (PSF).
These two transactions are risk participations in Private Sector projects of the Bank Group and cover investment projects in Ghana, Malawi and Mozambique. The two projects will contribute significantly to regional integration and trade.
30-Jan-2017 - The African Development Bank President, Akinwumi Adesina, attended the official opening ceremony of the 28th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union, which kicked off Monday in Addis Ababa.
The meeting featured the announcement of the election of President Alpha Condé of Guinea as the new Chairperson of the African Union (AU) and the launch of the theme "Harnessing the Demographic Dividend through Investments in the Youth". Condé succeeds President Idriss Deby of Chad in the role.
28-Jan-2017 - The 28th African Union Summit is underway at the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. From January 22-31, 2017, the African Union is holding its 28th Ordinary Session under the theme “Harnessing the demographic dividend through investments for youth”.
African Development Bank President Akinwumi Adesina will attend the Summit from January 28-31, 2017.
27-Jan-2017 - The African Development Bank has approved a loan and a grant amounting to US $7.14 million to finance the fourth Drought Resilience and Sustainable Livelihoods Program in Eritrea.
This Program is an expansion of the ongoing Eritrea Component of the Multinational Drought Resilience and Sustainable Livelihoods Program in the Horn of Africa Project II (DRSLP-II) approved by the Bank Group in November 2014.
26-Jan-2017 - The African Development Bank Group will help the Union of Comoros Government to diversify its economy with a US $20.4-million road network rehabilitation project grant approved by the Board of Directors on Monday, January 23, 2017. The project will be implemented in four years to 2020 in the islands of Grande Comore and Anjouan, which account for 94% of the country’s total population of almost 756,000 inhabitants (2014).
26-Jan-2017 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) is hosting and co-organizing the Energy Week, a series of events, including high-level discussions and partnerships focusing on lighting up and powering Africa, and unlocking the continent's huge energy potential. The Energy Week runs from Monday, March 27 to Friday, March 31, 2017 in Abidjan.
Events taking place during the Energy Week include a high-level workshop on energy access in West Africa, an Off-Grid Revolution expert consultation workshop and a SEforALL Africa workshop.
