Kinshasa, December 13, 2007 - In the framework of its outreach activities, CRMU in partnership with OAGL (Office of the Auditor General) and the Bank’s field office in DRC (CDFO) organized a national workshop under the title, International Accountability and Anti-Corruption and Fraud Mechanisms: The Case of the African Development Bank. The objective of the workshop, held on December 13-14, 2007, was mainly to raise awareness of civil society on the scope and expected outcomes of the Bank’s independent review mechanism managed by CRMU and the former anti-corruption and fraud strategy managed by OAGL. The event was an opportunity for the CRMU/OAGL to exchange views with the thirty six participant NGOs based in Kinshasa and other ten provinces of DRC, and to deliberate on afterward action plan under which civil society will be the medium for educating local communities about the importance of independent review mechanism and the anti-corruption and fraud strategy for the Bank’s operations in general and local communities as ultimate beneficiaries of its projects in particular.
