CRMU Host Meeting for Independent Accountability Mechanisms Officials

Tunis, June 24th, 2008 - The Bank Group’s Compliance Review and Mediation Unit (CRMU) recently hosted the 5th Annual Meeting of the Principals of the Independent Accountability Mechanisms of international and bilateral financing institutions. The meeting, which took place this week in Tunis, was attended by twenty-eight representatives of independent review mechanisms, including the World Bank Inspection Panel; the IFC Compliance Advisor/Ombudsman, the Asian Development Bank, the European Investment Bank; the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development,  the Inter-American Development Bank, the African Development Bank in addition to the US administration’s Overseas Private Investment Corporation, the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and Nippon Export Investment Insurance (NEXI, Japan). The meeting aimed at providing an opportunity for these independent review mechanisms to exchange views on substantive and technical operationalization of their mandate and strategies.
