CRMU presented the IRM to the Bank's field offices

Tunis, 20 June 2007 - CRMU presented the Independent Review Mechanism (IRM) to staff from the Bank’s field offices at a seminar in Tunis on strengthening the function of field offices. The CRMU director emphasized the importance of the independence of the IRM and to create confidence in the mechanism among its potential beneficiaries. He also informed that according to the IRM rules, before a complaint can be handled by the CRMU, affected people shall first have tried to resolve their problems with the Bank’s staff and management. The filed offices have an important role in assisting people who suffer harm as a result of the Bank’s operations, and also to inform people living in areas where the Bank is financing projects about their right to lodge their complaints to the Bank/CRMU.
