Tunis, 19 May 2011 - African Development Bank (AfDB) Group President Donald Kaberuka will visit Cote d’Ivoire from the 20th to 22nd of May, 2011.

Mr. Kaberuka will attend the inauguration of President Alassane Dramane Ouattara in the Ivorian capital of Yamoussoukro on Saturday, 21st May.

The AfDB is reactivating its operations in Côte d’Ivoire with an emergency support programme of US150 million. This assistance will be geared towards helping the country rehabilitate its social and economic infrastructure. The emergency programme specifically targets health, education and sanitation - areas that were severely affected by the post-election conflict.

The facility, which is being submitted to the African Development Bank Board, is intended to be quick disbursing.

“We look forward to working in earnest alongside the authorities and people of Cote d’Ivoire as they embark on the arduous task of national reconstruction,” said Donald Kaberuka. “We are pleased to be reactivating operations in Cote d’Ivoire and to be able to provide the country with the support it needs as it begins its recovery process towards a path of sustained economic growth,” he added.
