In coordination with the African Development Bank’s infrastructure department (OINF) and in cooperation with the Korean Agency for Digital Opportunities and Promotion (KADO), the African Development Institute (EADI) organized the first of a series of IT security training programmes from August 11-20, 2008, in Seoul, Korea. The second programme on Mobile Communications is scheduled to take place from October 20-29, 2008, while the e-procurement course in coordination with the Korean Public Procurement Service is expected to take place from October 28-31, 2008.
The Korea IT Learning (KOIL) Programme’s objective is to promote international cooperation in the IT area with a view to bridging the global digital divide and to build human capacity in African Regional Member Countries.
The programme is expected to help participants familiarize themselves with the importance of information security, identify the nature of information security problems, and impart practical and technical know-how on implementing security protection methods.
The course is one in a series offered by Korea under the collaborative agreement between Korea and the African Development Bank in the ICT sector aimed at bridging the digital divide in Bank Group regional member countries.
The first IT Training programme on security was opened by KADO Vice President, Won Geun Park, and KADO Director, Yongjoon Cho. The event was attended by participants from several regional member countries.
