The African Water Facility Supports Mozambique’s resilience to climate change and reducing vulnerability to floods in Inhambane and Chimoio

09-Mar-2017 - The Government of the Republic of Mozambique and the African Water Facility (AWF) has entered into a grant agreement for a feasibility study on Urban Sanitation, Drainage and Solid Waste Management in Chimoio and Inhambane. The grant agreement was signed on January 27, 2017 by the Minister of Economy and Finance Adriano Afonso Maleiane and the Country Manager for the African Development Bank Joseph M. Ribeiro. The project was launched in workshops in Maputo on March 8, in Chimoio on March 9 and another one will be held in Inhambane on March 14.

How an AfDB-funded project is building water-resilient systems in Malawi

09-Mar-2017 - More than 500,000 trees have been planted as part of efforts by the African Development Bank (AfDB) to combat climate change and build water-resilient systems of rural communities in five districts of Malawi. Fourteen catchment management committees have also been created, and more than 200,000 people have benefitted from awareness-raising activities thanks to an AfDB-funded project.
