African Development Bank participates in Women Empowering Africa panel at Africa 2018 Forum

11-Dec-2018 - At the Africa 2018 Forum held in Sharm-El-Sheik from 8-9 December 2018, the role of women and young people in unlocking the economic potential of Africa took centre stage. The Forum is an international event hosted under the High Patronage of President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi of Republic of Egypt, aiming to promote greater economic integration through increased investment flows into Africa.

Ces deux organisations se sont associées à la Confédération patronale gabonaise (CPG) pour la mise en œuvre du programme au Gabon.

Des masterclass en gestion d’entreprise et planification financière seront conduites toute la semaine par Entreprenarium dans les locaux de la Banque, au profit de 100 femmes entrepreneures.

African Development Bank delivers strong development results in Egypt

10-Dec-2018 - The African Development Bank has published the ‘Country Results Brief’ on Egypt. The report, which looks at Egypt’s economic situation, puts a spotlight on the Bank’s investments in the energy, agriculture, sanitation, industrial and social sectors. Over the past five years, Egypt has regained its position as the first destination for foreign direct investment (FDI) in Africa. It has a diversified economy, with services accounting for about half of the gross domestic product (GDP), industry contributing 34% of GDP and agriculture 12%.

Malawi: African Development Bank US$ 35 million loan to boost agriculture and natural resource management

06-Dec-2018 - The African Development Bank has approved a US$ 35 million loan for the Shire Valley Transformation Program - Phase 1 (SVTP-1), aimed at reducing poverty through the development of agricultural value chain and climate adaptation mechanisms. The Shire Valley Transformation Project will provide access to gravity fed irrigation and drainage services to the Chikwawa and Nsanje Districts south of Malawi. It will also secure land tenure for smallholder farmers and strengthen management of wetlands and protected areas.

06-Dec-2018 - The African Development Bank and the Federal Government of Nigeria have launched the Inclusive Basic Service Delivery Livelihood Empowerment Integrated Programme ­ ̶ a US$258 million comprehensive multisectoral intervention aimed at bolstering  rehabilitation efforts in north-eastern Nigeria. Nigeria’s Vice President Yemi Osinbajo launched the program at the African Development Bank premises in Abuja on Thursday. The launch was attended by Governors of five northeast states, ministers, development partners and key stakeholders.
