The World Water Forum, which is the culmination of 3 years of global water actors’ consultations, opened in Brasilia to over 30,000 participants. Facilitated by the World Water Council, a global body with over 600 member organizations, it will focus on sharing experiences and advancements in the sustainable development and management of this precious resource for social and economic development. Much emphasis is put on the fact that water security has wide-ranging impacts on energy, agriculture, industrialization and health.
