Africa Capital Works Fund wins US$ 15m AfDB equity investment

24-Nov-2017 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) has approved a US$ 15m equity participation in Africa Capital Works Fund.  The investment will finance Sub Saharan Africa’s mid-market companies in strategically selected sectors that offer the potential to be transformed into local and regional industry champions, over a longer than usual ownership period.

AfDB earmarks US$84m for skills and business development in Rwanda

24-Nov-2017 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) has approved US$84.3m loan to finance a Skills and Business Development Programme (SBDP) in Rwanda. The program will promote reforms, boost domestic production and create about 200,000 jobs annually. Rwanda’s economic performance remains strong averaging 6.8% % of GDP growth per annum since 2013. The country has also made progress in creating 150,000 off-farm jobs every year since 2014.

AfDB supports Cameroon’s Economic reforms with €180 million loan

23-Nov-2017 - The African Development Bank Group’s Board of Directors has approved a loan of €180 million to the Republic of Cameroon to finance the first phase of the government’s Competitiveness and Economic Growth Support Programme (PACCE). PACCE is the first of a three-year programmatic general budget support operations to be implemented from 2017 to 2019 in order to shore up public finances in the wake of dwindling oil prices exasperated by security and related humanitarian challenges within the country and across the CEMAC region.

23-Nov-2017 - Le Conseil d’administration du Groupe de la Banque africaine de développement (BAD) a approuvé, le 22 Novembre 2017 à Abidjan, en Côte d’Ivoire, le Document de stratégie pays (DSP) de Madagascar, qui vise à contribuer à réduire la pauvreté et à améliorer les conditions de vie de la population, en créant des emplois grâce à une transformation structurelle accélérée et l’industrialisation. Le DSP orientera les interventions de la Banque dans ce pays au cours des cinq prochaines années.

AfDB boosts African Agriculture and nutrition with US$ 10 million equity investment in Phatisa Food Fund

23-Nov-2017 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) today approved US$10 million equity investment in Phatisa Food Fund2 (PFF2) to boost agriculture and nutrition across Africa. PFF2 is a second generation Fund which builds on the success of its predecessor African Agriculture Fund (AAF), sponsored by AfDB along with other DFIs including the French Development Agency (AFD), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation and Development (AECID).

AfDB Group approves €122m loan for Tunisia road improvement Project

22-Nov-2017 - The Board of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) has approved a loan of €112 million to help finance the North-East Road Connectivity Support Project in Tunisia. The project aims to make the Tunisian economy more competitive through supporting the growing demand for the traffic of goods and people in Bizerte as well as better mobility and improved connections between the northern and eastern regions of the country.

IATA, African Development Bank sign MoU to advance Africa’s aviation

22-Nov-2017 - The International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the African Development Bank (AfDB) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a framework for collaboration to boost the aviation sector in Africa. The MoU was signed Tuesday in Abuja, Nigeria, on the sidelines of the International Civil Aviation Organization’s World Aviation Forum, “Financing the Development of Aviation Infrastructure” by IATA’s Director General and Chief Executive Officer, Alexandre de Juniac, and African Development Bank President Akinwumi Adesina.
