A total of 22 submissions were received on all of the High 5 areas covering the continent and rigorously assessed by experts.

Although African countries have spent money on energy during the last decades, the investments made have not kept pace with the continent’s population economic growth that increased the need for energy. Lack of reliable, abundant power is seriously hindering the continent’s transformation.
24-May-2017 - The African Natural Resources Center of the African Development Bank (AfDB) recently secured US $200,000 from the Korea-Africa Economic Cooperation(KOAFEC) fund to support Tanzania’s gas sector.
The Center’s gas expert, Charles Nyirahuku, provides an insight into the expected key deliverables from the facility.

Grace Adesina, wife of the Bank President, presented a cheque to Naranbhai Patel, President of the Mahipatram Rupram Ashram on Wednesday during a tour of the orphanage. 24-May-2017 - Winners of the 2017 African Banker Awards were announced at a prestigious Gala Dinner in Ahmedabad, India. The Awards, held annually on the fringes of the Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank, celebrate excellence in banking and finance on the African continent.
No one country dominated the awards this year. The President of Afreximbank, Benedict Oramah, won Banker of the Year. His bank has grown considerably in the past year, whilst other metrics, such as income to cost ratio were very competitive.
