18/04/2014 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) approved on April 16 in Tunis, the creation of the Africa Climate Change Fund (ACCF), a bilateral thematic trust fund to support African countries in their transition to climate-resilient and low-carbon development. The AfDB will host and manage the ACCF, which was created with a 4.725 million euro contribution from Germany for an initial three-year period. The aim is to scale-up to a multi-donor trust fund as soon as at least one new donor commits to join.

15/04/2014 - From March 31 to April 3, African Development Bank (AfDB) staff participated in a regional forum in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), on opportunities for green growth in Africa. They joined representatives from governments, development organizations, civil society and academic institutions to exchange knowledge and experiences, and foster more coordinated dialogue around environmentally-sound economic development.

14/03/2014 - The African Development Bank Group has launched a competition for young African design students to design a logo for its newest department, “the African Natural Resources Centre” (ANRC). The winner, who must be enrolled in a design program at an African educational institution, will be invited to the launching ceremony of the ANRC at the AfDB Annual Meetings in Kigali, Rwanda. The contest aims to give exposure to emerging talent on the African continent. The deadline for submission is 14 April.

12/02/2014 - Furthering its role as a leading voice on green growth in Africa, the African Development Bank (AfDB) is the first regional development Bank to participate in the Green Growth Knowledge Platform (GGKP), a multi-stakeholder knowledge network including international organizations, bilateral agencies and academic institutions. The Geneva-based Secretariat of this new, state-of-the-art knowledge-sharing platform was officially launched at a high-level event at the end of January.

15/11/2013 - Multilateral development banks (MDBs) provided almost US $27 billion worldwide, in financing to address the challenges of climate change in 2012, according to the second joint MDB report on climate finance. The report was released today, in line with the commitment by MDBs to enhance the transparency of their investments in climate change mitigation and adaptation.
