30/05/2013 - The promotion of green growth and the construction of a green economy in Africa aim to assure the well-being of humans, in the face of climate change. This issue was at the core of the debate “Africa’s transition to green economy” organized on May 28, in the context of the African Development Bank’s Annual Meetings which took place in Marrakesh, Morocco. The panel gathered experts from the AfDB and governmental authorities to exchange experiences.
30/05/2013 - On Tuesday, May 28, the African Development Bank organized at its Annual Meetings in Marrakech a high-level side event discussing how African countries could grow green and transition to a green economy. With the approval of the Bank’s 2013-2022 Strategy, inclusive growth and the transition to green growth have been anchored as the two strategic objectives to guide the work of the organization over the next decade.

29/05/2013 - A side event entitled Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa (SEFA): Reaching out to Project Financiers in Africa was held during the African Development Bank’s (AfDB) 2013 Annual Meetings in Marrakesh, Morocco.
20/05/2013 - A new report released by the African Development Bank (AfDB) shows that investments in green growth are not only good for the environment but are also advantageous to economic growth.
27/02/2013 - An African Development Bank team composed of experts from the Energy, Environment and Climate Change Department (ONEC) and the Sierra Leone Field Office (SLFO) completed its second green growth mission to Sierra Leone from February 4 to 8, 2013. The objective of the mission was to work further with Government counterparts on mainstreaming green growth into Sierra Leone’s Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP) – (2013–2017) called “Agenda for Prosperity”, currently under preparation.
25/02/2013 - Stakeholders across Mozambique gathered in a consultation on the country’s developing Green Growth Action Plan (GGAP) in December 2012. The African Development Bank (AfDB) team lead the work to support the Government. Participants in the consultations involved representatives from Government, private sector, civil society, development partners and academia in full-day presentation and discussion events in the three regions of the country: north, centre and south.
18/02/2013 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) jointly organized the workshop “Green Growth in Africa: Concepts, Tools and Strategies for Building Greener Economies and a Sustainable Future”. Hosted by the Zambian Ministry of Lands in Lusaka in January, the workshop attracted over 100 participants from 18 African countries, including representatives from bilateral and multilateral organizations.
30/11/2012 - Efforts from the international community and African countries to improve access to climate finance in Africa have yielded significant results in recent year; however the current flows remain insufficient to meet Africa’s actual needs.
