25/04/2006 - Malaria continues to represent a major problem in Africa particularly south of the Sahara. It is estimated that 300 million cases of Malaria occur every year in Africa resulting in up to 2 million deaths, mostly among young children.

07/09/2005 - Tunis, 7 September 2005 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF), the concessional window of the African Development Bank (ADB) Group, on Wednesday in Tunis, approved a grant of 17 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 24.81 million, to finance the strengthening of the District Health Services Project in Sierra Leone.

19/05/2005 - Abuja, 19 May 2005 – On the fringes of the AfDB Group Annual Meetings 2005 in Nigeria, the Acting Vice President for the West and Central operations of the ADB Group, Mr. Jaouad Mohammed Gharbi, signed in Abuja a grant agreement for the amount of 330,000 Units of accounts (UA*), equivalent to US$ 500.000, for each of the benefiting countries, in the framework of the Multinational Polio Eradication Program covering Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Niger and Chad.
19/05/2005 - Abuja, 19 May 2005 – On the fringes of the ADB Group Annual Meetings of 2005 in Nigeria, the Acting Vice President for the North, South and East operations of the ADB Group, Mrs. Zeinab El Bakri signed in Abuja a agreement for a Multinational loan of 44.56 million Units of Account (US $ 67 million) and a grant of 2.94 million Units of Account (US$ 4.4 million) to finance the Creation of Sustainable Tsetse and Trypanosomiasis (T&T) Free Areas in East and West Africa Project.
