11-Jul-2018 - Tanzania’s ongoing macroeconomic reform program has received a boost from the African Development Bank through a US$40- million budget support loan to be provided by the African Development Fund, the concessional arm of the Bank Group.
10-Jul-2018 - Over the last decade, and despite impressive growth rates in most of the continent, Africa’s infrastructure needs remain huge with annual financing gap between US$ 130 and US$ 170 billion annually.
To close this gap, the African Development Bank is working with leading global development finance institutions to set up a mutualized co-guarantee platform to de-risk investments and facilitate projects that have the capacity of transforming the continent under the Africa Investment Forum (AIF).
10-Jul-2018 - The African Development Bank will on July 10, 2018 embark on a roadshow in Abuja, Nigeria, to mobilize key stakeholders towards putting together a pipeline of bankable projects ahead of the Africa Investment Forum (AIF). AIF−Africa's own investment marketplace for accelerated economic transformation – is scheduled for November 7-9 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
10-Jul-2018 - Africa50, the pan-African infrastructure platform, will host its third General Shareholders Meeting (GSM) in Nairobi, Kenya on 19 July at Villa Rosa Kempinski Hotel. President Uhuru Kenyatta will open the meeting, which is taking place for the first time in East Africa. Henry Rotich, the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury in Kenya, will also attend.

09-Jul-2018 - Improving Governance and Leadership in Africa’s power sector is an imperative for addressing various bottlenecks impeding the performance of power utilities in the continent. In the framework of the African Network of Centers of Excellence in Electricity (ANCEE), co-funded by the African Development Bank and the Agence Française pour le Développement (AFD), the Bank in collaboration with the Association of Power Utilities of Africa (APUA), annually co-organises the African Power Utilities CEO Governance and Leadership Forum.
07-Jul-2018 - The Macroeconomics Policy, Forecasting and Research Department (ECMR) organized a seminar on “Exploring the role of economic incentives and spillover effects in biodiversity conservation policies in sub-Saharan Africa.”
The guest speaker was Dr Ariane Amin, environmental economist, lecturer and researcher at the University Felix Houphouet Boigny (UFHB). She also serves as research associate at the Swiss Center for Scientific Research (Centre Suisse de Recherche Scientifique en Côte d’Ivoire - CSRS).

04-Jul-2018 - The 2018 Aid Transparency Index Report, released by Publish What you Fund has ranked the African Development Bank 4th among 45 development organizations, lifting the Bank by six positions since 2016.
The improved ranking reflects the Bank’s operational capabilities and the efficacy of its systems and processes, including a strict adherence to best-in-class reporting and disclosure of its programs, projects, aid and financial interventions.
04-Jul-2018 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank has approved the work plan and budget of the African Water Facility (AWF) for 2018.
The plan addresses past challenges and proposes solutions on the pressing issues of resource mobilization, filling vacancies, monitoring ongoing projects more closely and resolving issues more quickly, and strengthening the capacity of project implementing agencies.
03-Jul-2018 - The African Legal Support Facility (ALSF) hosted a conference on Arbitration in Africa, and launch of the African Arbitration Association (AfAA) in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
All 71 arbitral institutions in Africa created the Africa Arbitration Association to promote the development of international arbitration and other forms of international dispute resolution on the African continent.
02-Jul-2018 - The U.S. Government’s Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Chief Operating Officer Jonathan Nash and African Development Bank Group Senior Vice-President Charles Boamah today announced new opportunities for collaboration between the institutions. The announcement was made during the President’s Advisory Council on Doing Business in Africa (PAC-DBIA) mission stop in Côte d’Ivoire.
02-Jul-2018 - The African Development Bank has signed a memorandum of understanding with the U.S. Trade and Development Agency to partner under USTDA’s Global Procurement Initiative: Understanding Best Value. The initiative was launched in 2013 to help public procurement officials establish policies and practices that integrate lifecycle cost analyses and best-value determination fairly and transparently.
02-Jul-2018 - Leveling the playing field for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Africa is one of FAPA’s (Fund for African Private Sector Assistance) priority goals. To achieve this objective, FAPA donors have approved four projects worth US $3.9 million, bringing the total number of FAPA approved projects to seven and the cumulative grant amount to US $6.4 million since the beginning of this year.
28-Jun-2018 - The third Fashionomics Africa Masterclass for textile, apparel and accessories entrepreneurs, tomorrow’s designers and startups was led by the African Development Bank Department of Gender, Women and Civil Society in partnership with Google Digital Skills for Africa, Nesta, Parsons School of Fashion and African Fashion International.
The class provides the tools and know-how to build a fashion brand from an idea to its execution. Nearly two-thirds of the 170 participants in the two-day event last weekend, were women.
28-Jun-2018 - The 2018 Careers in Africa Employer of Choice Survey has ranked the African Development Bank the fourth best company to work with in Africa. Of 100 companies listed, the top four include the World Bank Group, Chevron, Exxon Mobil and the African Development Bank.
28-Jun-2018 - Le Conseil d'administration du Groupe de la Banque africaine de développement a approuvé, mercredi 27 juin, une ligne de crédit de 100 millions d’euros au profit de la Banque centrale populaire du Maroc (BCP).
Cette facilité va permettre à la BCP de renforcer ses activités de financement des entreprises dans les secteurs de l’agriculture, de l’éducation, de la santé et des infrastructures en Afrique de l’Ouest, principalement en Côte d’Ivoire, en Guinée, au Mali et au Sénégal.
