31/05/2017 - E-governance is the future of development, and without it African countries will struggle, says Malawi’s Secretary to the Treasury, Ben Botolo. Featuring on a panel discussion on “Africa-India Partnerships in E-Governance” on Thursday, May 25, at the AfDB’s 52nd Annual Meetings, Botolo said Africa stands to benefit from e-governance as evidence shows that it reduces physical interface, thereby reducing costs.

Under the current German G20 Presidency, the key objective to advance the sustainable economic development of the African continent is of particular importance.
30/05/2017 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) and key agencies in Japan are working towards stronger cooperation in support of Africa’s development. The Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank (AfDB) in the city of Ahmedabad, India, provided an important forum for the AfDB to partner with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to ensure a greater relationship with India. Speaking at the Meetings on May 24, the Japanese State Minister of Finance, Taku Otsuka, stressed the importance of close collaboration between Japan and India in order to vigorously contribute to sustainable and inclusive development in Africa.
30/05/2017 - Worried about the continent’s poor health indices, African countries are seeking greater partnership with India. The continent’s Ministers of Finance and Health, who are leading this drive, are seeking the scaling up of their bilateral cooperations with India for the improvement of healthcare for the African people. In the spirit of South-South cooperation, they are seeking to explore India’s leading role for more significant investment opportunities for both sides.
29/05/2017 - Thirteen African countries have signed a series of partnership agreements with India to enhance the supply of agricultural machinery, credit advancement to farmers and scientific cooperation.
26/05/2017 - As the African Development Bank’s (AfDB) Annual Meetings drew to a close, so, too, did the scheduled events and bilateral meetings held by the African Legal Support Facility (ALSF). Beginning on Sunday, 21 May with a meeting of its Management Board, the ALSF hosted African Ministers, technical experts, and Regional Member State (RMC) counterparts at a variety of events.

To scale up its impact, the African Development Bank announced the winners of the Africa Development Impact during its Annual Meetings in Ahmedabad, India, on May 24, 2017, with Lerato Mbele acting as master of ceremony and Nollywood actress Omotola J. Ekeinde handing over the awards.
