11-Jan-2017 - The President of the Republic of Benin, Patrice Talon, visited on Wednesday 11 January 2017 the headquarters of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, where he was welcomed by President Akinwumi Adesina, for the presentation of the new program of action of the Government of Benin for the period 2016-2021.
"My emotion would not have been greater if the meeting had taken place in Cotonou because the AfDB is an institution of great pride for the Africans, " the President of Benin, said on his arrival.

The overarching theme will focus on “Delivering the High 5s in a Resilient Africa”, with six plenary sessions and multiple parallel breakout sessions delving deeper into fragility issues affecting the continent.

African countries will need innovative partnerships and a mix of small-scale and big transformational projects to build resilience and overcome fragility, African Development Bank President Akinwumi Adesina told the Africa Resilience Forum on Tuesday in Abidjan.

This interest partly emanated from the need to understand the root causes of these upheavals and partly from the challenges in the post-uprising era which have seen mounting expectations to improve the conditions of the masses. It is noteworthy that the uprisings mainly occurred against a somewhat paradoxical background of a period of relatively improved economic performance in the region.

22-Dec-2016 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Women in Parliaments Global Forum (WIP) convened female Parliamentarians from 12 African countries in Nairobi, Kenya, to share perspectives on strategies for female MPs to promote legal reforms which ensure that women's property rights are included in all African legal frameworks. The meeting provided an occasion to discuss and address the current African property rights landscape with special attention given to the role of MPs in advancing property and inheritance laws for women across Africa.

20-Dec-2016 - Dans le cadre de sa stratégie pour L’Emploi des Jeunes en Afrique (SEJA), la Banque Africaine de Développement (BAD) a lancé à Abidjan, une formation de jeunes en entrepreneuriat sur le concept « Agripreneur à Zéro Franc » dans la chaîne de valeur agricole. La formation vise à offrir aux jeunes africains, les capacités techniques pour entreprendre dans le secteur de l’agriculture et de l’agribusiness, « en dépit des difficultés d’accès aux financements.»
19-Dec-2016 - The African Development Bank, on 19th December 2016, signed a loan of US$ 500 million to finance the Egypt Economic Governance and Energy Support Program Phase II. The loan, which was approved by the Bank’s Board of Executive Directors on 13th December 2016, is the second tranche of a three year, US$ 1.5 billion programmatic series, covering the fiscal years 2015/16 to 2017/18 (July-June). It builds on the first phase of the operation, a US$ 500 million loan that was approved in December 2015 and was fully disbursed in early January 2016.
