Japan: Pre-TICAD7 Seminar - Financing for Project Implementation and Infrastructure and Energy Investment Opportunities in Africa
|Location:||1-3-7 Yaesu, Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Japan (Belle Salle Yaesu, 2nd floor)|
The African Development Bank and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will organize a Pre-TICAD 7 Seminar on Thursday 14 February 2019 in Tokyo, on the theme: Financing for Project Implementation, Infrastructure, and Energy Investment Opportunities in Africa.
While African economies have continued to maintain growth with gross domestic product reaching an estimated 3.5% and expected to rise to 4% in 2019, the demands of rising population, rapid urbanization, and consumer demands are affecting this growth. The continent requires between US$130 to US$170 billion a year for infrastructure investment until 2025. These needs cannot be met by the public sector, governments and donor agencies alone, but would require broad-based partnerships and collaboration with the private sector to ensure sustained economic growth.
The seminar will include sessions on private sector investment and obstacles to investment in the energy and infrastructure sectors in Africa. The Bank and JICAD will share solutions and experiences in this arena. Additional parallel sessions will be organized to discuss investment opportunities in specific projects.
This Pre-TICAD seminar comes ahead of the 7th Tokyo International Conference on African Development, which will be held from 28th to 30th August 2019, in Yokoyama, Japan.
This seminar is open to the public. There will be simultaneous interpretation available in English and Japanese.
