The Ministerial Conference on Korea-Africa Economic Cooperation organized by the Korean Ministry of Finance, the African Development Bank (ADB) and the Export-Import Bank (Eximbank) of Korea, was opened on Tuesday in the Korean Capital.

The President of the Republic of Korea, Mr. Roh Moo-Hyun received the delegation of African ministers as well as the ADB President Donald Kaberuka. "My country is willing to share with African Countries, our past experience and know-how in developing the national economies through active exchange of both high and working level officials between African countries and Korea", President Moo-Hyun said.

The conference was packaged to enable participants exchange views on how to further develop relations and economic cooperation between Africa and Korea.

In his intervention, President Kaberuka attributed the huge economic progress achieved by the country to pragmatism and the ability to focus on what works.  Korea, he said, is one of the few countries that have graduated from being an aid receiver to an aid donor, stressing that Africa could benefit immensely from Korea’s experience.

The conference is focusing on two major themes: Business Opportunity in Africa and Strategy for Development of Korea-Africa Economic Cooperation.  Participants will also have the opportunity to visit some key industrial establishment.
