With 10% of its adult population having subscribed to mobile money accounts, Liberia can boast of soon being able to double this figure thanks to the Liberian Agriculture Transformation Agenda (LATA), launched by the Government of Liberia with the support of the African Development Bank.

04/03/2016 - A high level meeting took place on February 25, 2016 between a delegation of the West African Health Organization (WAHO) and the Human and Social Development Department (OSHD) of the African Development Bank to discuss further collaboration between the two institutions. The meeting was held at the Bank’s headquarters in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

17/12/2015 - The Office of the Special Envoy on Gender of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) concluded its campaign to mark 16 days of activism in solidarity with the UN’s UNiTE “Orange the World: End all Violence against Women and Girls”. From November 25 to December 10, the AfDB ran a sensitization campaign at its headquarters in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, and across its 35 field offices in Africa.

27/11/2015 - Although government policy-makers and their development partners both recognize the importance of investing in infrastructure and using a fragility lens when making broad policy decisions, there has been little attempt to systematically integrate thinking about fragility into investments in roads. Day 1 of the African Development Bank Transport Forum in Abidjan offered a discussion on the importance of roads to political stability, social cohesion, and institution-building, and, through these conduits, to the reduction of state fragility.

27/11/2015 - The Resident Representative of the African Development Bank Group in Liberia, Margaret Kilo, launched a national radio broadcasting program dedicated to women’s empowerment as an early celebration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and Girls and the 16 Days of Activism, which kicked off on Wednesday, November 25. The official ceremony was hosted by Liberian Vice-President, Joseph Nyumah Boakai, on Tuesday, November 24, in partnership with other development institutions such as UN Women in Liberia.
