22/05/2014 - On 22 May 2014, the African Development Bank (AfDB) announced a loan of 60 billion CFA francs (approximately US $127 million) to Senegal for a water and sanitation project. The aim of the project is to make the sector more viable and improve socio-economic conditions for the Senegalese population.
22/05/2014 - The African Development Bank (“AfDB”) and the People’s Bank of China (“PBOC”) on Thursday, May 22 entered into a US $2 billion co-financing fund to be known as the Africa Growing Together Fund (“AGTF”). The resources from the AGTF are expected to be provided over a 10-year period and will be used alongside the AfDB’s own resources to finance eligible sovereign and non-sovereign guaranteed development projects in Africa.
20/05/2014 - The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on Monday, May 19 signed a grant agreement to provide the African Legal Support Facility (ALSF) with financial support in the amount of US $3.0 million over a three-year period under the US Power Africa Initiative.
20/05/2014 - The Kingdom of Lesotho on Monday, May 19 in Kigali, signed up to the African Legal Support Facility (ALSF) becoming the 57th state to join the group, established in 2010 to assist African countries in commercial creditor litigation and related issues.
16/04/2014 - The African Development Bank (AfDB), with the Dutch Development Bank FMO, the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) and Propaco of France on Monday, April 14 signed a USD142 million loan to develop the 120 MW Itezhi Tezhi power project. It is the first public-private partnership energy project in Zambia and is being developed jointly by TATA Africa and ZESCO Limited as an independent power producer, and the Itezhi Tezhi Power Company (ITPC).
08/04/2014 - The African Development Bank (AfDB), on Friday, April 4, 2014 in Nairobi, Kenya, signed a US $20-million trade finance Line of Credit with the Company for Habitat and Housing in Africa/Shelter Afrique to boost the availability of trade finance instruments to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) involved in real estate and construction-related activities in Africa.
08/04/2014 - Following the signing of the Capacity Building Project between the African Union Commission (AUC) and the African Development Bank during the meetings of the African Heads of State and Government held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in January 2014, the AfDB formally launched the project in Centurion, South Africa, on April 7, 2014.
