Malawi and AfDB Group Sign US$ 22 Million Grant Agreement to Boost Small Holder Crop Production

10-Nov-2006 - Tunis, 10 November 2006 – Malawi and the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group signed on Thursday in Tunis, agreement for a grant of 15 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to USD 22.2 million, to finance a Small Holder Crop Production and Marketing Project in the country. The Bank Group’s Vice President for Sector Operations, Mrs. Zeinab El Bakri, co-signed the agreement with the Malawian Ambassador to Egypt, Mr.  M’Madi Yahaya.

WAEMU Countries - US$29.77 Million ADF Grant for Higher Education

06-Sep-2006 - Tunis,  6 September 2006 –  The African Development Bank (AfDB)  Group and the West African Economic and Monetary Union WAEMU, on Tuesday in Tunis, signed a protocol agreement for a grant of  20 million Units of Account (*), equivalent to US$29.77 million dollars,  to finance a higher education support project in the member countries of WAEMU.

Burkina Faso - AfDB Group Supports Development

18-Aug-2006 - US$19 Million ADF Loan and Grant for Rural Development and Protection against Avian Influenza Tunis, 18 August 2006 – The African Development Bank Group and the Government of Burkina Faso on Friday in Tunis signed a loan and a grant agreement amounting to US$ 19.48 million to finance rural development and the National Avian Influenza control Program in Burkina Faso.

COMESA - US$ 8 Million Grant in Support of Public Procurement

14-Aug-2006 - Tunis, 14 August 2006 –  The African Development Bank Group and the Common Market for East and Southern Africa on Monday in Tunis, signed an agreement for a grant of 5.66 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 8.40 million to finance procurement reforms and capacity building project in  COMESA states. Mr. Lobe Ndoumbe, Acting Director, Governance, Economic and Financial Management Department, signed the agreement for the Bank while Mr. Sindiso Ngwenya, Assistant Secretary-General for COMESA.

Tanzania Gets US$ 75 Million Poverty Reduction Loan and US$ 645 million Debt Relief

11-Aug-2006 - Tunis, 11 August 2006 – The President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, Mr. Donald Kaberuka and the Tanzanian Finance Minister, Mrs. Zakia Meghji,  on Wednesday in Dar es Salaam signed a loan agreement of  50 million Units of Account, equivalent to US$ 74 million or 926 billion Tanzanian Shillings, to support the government’s poverty reduction efforts and to improve social indicators in the country.

19-May-2006 - Ouagadougou, 18 May, 2006  - The African Development Fund and the Government of Sierra Leone today in Ouagadagou signed a grant agreement of 1.99 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 2.93 million, to finance the Maotoka to Sefadu Road Studies and Institutional Support Project. The project will contribute to the development of the transport sector which will support national economic and social development objectives.

19-May-2006 - Ouagadougou, 17 May 2006 – Le Fonds africain de développement et les  Gouvernements de Gambie, Guinée, Mali et Sénégal ont signé ce jour à Ouagadougou, un prêt de 9,76 million d’unités de compte (UC*) équivalant à 14.36 millions de dollars EU et un don de 10,24 UC, équivalant à  15,6 million de dollars EU pour financer un projet  de gestion durable du bétail ruminant endémique en Afrique de l’Ouest (Gambie, Guinée, Mali et le Sénégal).

Ghana: AfDB Group Supports Accra Sewerage Improvement Project

19-May-2006 - Ouagadougou, 17 May 2006 – The African Development Fund and the Government of Ghana today in Ouagadougou signed a loan agreement of 46 million Units of Account, (equivalent to US$ 68 million or 606 billion GHC)  to finance the Accra Sewerage Improvement Project. The agreement was signed by Zeinab El-Bakri, ADB Vice President of Operations, and Mr. Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning of Ghana.

19-May-2006 - Ouagadougou, 17 May 2006 – The African Development Fund (ADF) and the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria today in Ouagadagou signed a loan agreement of 30 million Units of Account, (equivalent to US$ 44.2 million) to finance a Skills Training and Vocational Education Project in Nigeria. 18-May-2006 - Ouagadougou, 18 May 2006  - The African Development Fund and SADC today in Ouagadagou signed a grant agreement of 9.38 million Units of Accounts(UA*), equivalent to US$ 13.80 millions  to finance the SADC Shared Watercourses Support Project for Ruvuma, Buzi and Save River Basin. 23-Jan-2006 - Tunis, 24 January 2006 – The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group and the government of Malawi have signed a 15-million (about 21.44 million US dollars) grant agreement to finance programs in the country’s health sector. The Bank’s acting Vice President in charge of West and Central Operations, Mr. Mohammed Gharbi and Malawi’s Ambassador to Egypt, Mr. Yahaya M’Madi, signed the agreement in Tunis on Monday.
